Descripción
Louis Dupuis (1842-1921) - large bronze bust of William of Nassau, Prince of Orange - approx. 1875 - on rich ornamented wooden cabinet and pedestal.
The bust is in good condition, the cabinet is in reasonable condition but would benefits from a light restoration, and the base must be repaired.

The bronze bust is signed on the front bottom left on the base, and was made by the Belgian artist Louis Dupuis (1842-1921). It was made around 1875, probably in collaboration with A. Arens (see signature in the bottom right of the front of the base). The bust is of a very high quality bronze and patinated in different colours. The wooden cabinet and the base was possibly made (later) especially for the bust. There are beautiful relief panels on the four sides with mythological scenes of a patinated copper zinc alloy.

The bust itself is in good condition and measures 55 cm high at 42 cm at its widest point, and weighs around 24 KG.
The wooden cabinet and base are in a reasonable condition, but needs some small restorations or repair work to bring it back to its original state.
The cabinet is 97 cm high and 61x61cm at the base and 54x54 cm at the top, and weighs approximately 39 kg. The base is 14 cm in height and 27x27cm, two ornamental edges have come off, but they are included.
Total height: 166 cm.

Provenance: Dutch private collection.
