A sublime page by this great artist in very good condition.
Highly dynamic and beautifully inked.
René Uilenbroek at his best! Note all the great details.
René Uilenbroek was born on June 19th, 1961 in Dordrecht. He grew up in Breda and began his career in the mid-80s at Pinpoint Productions in Amsterdam. Through this agency, he received illustration work and he made the newspaper comic “Koos de Supporter” for De Telegraaf. Not long after, he joined Studio Arnhem, a comic collective consisting of, among others, Hanco Kolk, Aloys Oosterwijk, Ben Jansen and Kees de Boer.
His most famous comic was this “Soeperman”, a parody of the well-known American superhero. Uilenbroek made this slapstick-like comic in collaboration with Willem Ritstier from 1986 for Eppo/Wordt Vervolgd. The comic was later continued in comic magazine Sjors en Sjimmie. “Soeperman” was only recently rewarded with an album series, but bundles were published earlier by Oberon, Zet.El, Big Balloon and BeeDee. In the '90s, Uilenbroek and Ritstier also made the comic series “Stanley” for Suske en Wiske magazine.
