Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen - 2 Oxford chairs, low back

Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen - 2 Oxford chairs, low back
1963, Denmark

Offered in very good condition (like new), a set of (2) original Fritz Hansen design classics

Made with Kvadrat Tonus fabric, dark grey colour, rotating, polished aluminium, five-armed cross base (seat height 47 cm).

The armchairs have a flexible seat made of laminated, shaped and cut veneer (all labelled).

Arne Jacobsen designed the original Oxford Chair for the professors at St. Catherine's College in Oxford in 1963. It is fully upholstered in fabric Kvadrat tonus (dark grey) and has 5-star swivel. The low back design makes this Oxford Chair ideal for meeting rooms or small desk spaces or even dining rooms.

Arne Jacobsen is one of the grandfathers of modern Danish furniture and the minimalist Danish style. While Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was also a successful architect, he is best remembered for his simple, yet elegant and functional chair designs.

Original price of the set, 2008: €3,500.00

Also see the other lot with an identical set of two to obtain a combined set of four.

The armchairs have hardly been used, can be transported very easily by simply unscrewing (hex key) the bucket from the frame.

Pick-up or delivery in consultation.
