The antique garnet brooch was made circa 1840/50. The front side is made of gold foil in rose gold plating, the plate on the back side is made of 800 silver.
As the antique brooch is not hallmarked, it has been expertly inspected by a master goldsmith and he confirmed the above to me.
The brooch has an openworked shape and displays a central rosette. This is set with a total of 7 round faceted, blood-red Bohemian garnets of 1.2 ct in total. These are cut in an antique rose cut and held in decorative frames.
Attached to the back is the long, original pin.
