Old brass sanctuary lamp - Belgium - late 19th / early 20th century

Old brass sanctuary lamp - Belgium - late 19th / early 20th century
Very good condition, few traces of use, frequently polished

From the monastery chapel of a closed abbey. This original lamp is shaped like a whirl; there is a cross on the tip. Around the middle, the lamp has openwork, adorned with delicate religious symbols all around. The top edge is also openwork with ongoing symbols. The lamp is equipped with three button-shaped handles, to which three 32-cm long chains are attached by coarse links which contain cross figures. The chains come together in a round heat shield that hangs on a single chain. The lamp holds a removable red glass cup for burning a candle, tealight or oil. The total length is around half a metre. In very good condition with few traces of use. Has been polished frequently.

In Roman Catholic churches, the sanctuary lamp burns near the tabernacle as long as the Blessed Sacrament is present inside. The sanctuary lamp testifies of Christ's real presence.

Will be packaged with care and shipped with track and trace.
