Zeitgeist ohne Hüllen
50 Jahre Pirelli-Kalender! This retrospective is a collection of various calendar images from 1964 to 2014, photographed by greats like Richard Avedon, Peter Beard, Annie Leibovitz, Peter Lindbergh, Uwe Ommer and Mario Testino, it contains various yet unpublished photographs as well as glimpses behind the scenes by art directors Derek Forsyth and Martyn Walsh. As bonus: The legendary lost calendar of 1963, and pictures, which had once fallen victim to censorship due to being ‘too pornographic’.
The Pirelli calendar, which is only sent to VIPs and important clients, was first published in 1964 and has become a legend since. In the course of its existence, it presented the most beautiful models - Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Laetitia Casta, Cindy Crawford, Penélope Cruz, Milla Jovovich, Heidi Klum, Angela Lindvall, Sophia Loren and Kate Moss, just to name a few.
As a bonus, we show rare and never-before-seen pictures, which were taken during photo sessions, the unreleased calendar of 1963 and a selection of “censored” pictures, which appeared too daring at the time in the eyes of the editors. With an introduction by Philippe Daverio and an interview with art directors Derek Forsyth and Martyn Walsh.
