A delightful Art Nouveau patinated bronze bust of a beautiful young lady with her hair tied behind her head. The figure with a famous bored and dismissive look is aptly entitled “Seule”and stamped to that effect on its integrated bronze plinth. This is the creation of acclaimed Italian/French sculptor Emanuel Villanis.
The bronze statute is signed on the left shoulder “E. Villanis”The deep dark pagination is well preserved with very minor signs of wear and tear. It measures 42cm affixed to its 1,8cm thick veined marble base. It weighs a heavy 8,8kg.
Emanuel Villanis (1858-1914) was an acclaimed and innovative French sculptor. He was born in Lille from Italian parents, and died in Paris. He studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. From 1885 onwards, Villanis lived in Paris and became one of the most productive sculptors towards the end of the 19th century. For more detail kindly consult Wikipedia.
