Parker 51 black resin (Lucite), Aerometric system, clear plastic tank, very strong, derived from the Waterman sleeve filler, model produced between 1947 and 1962, 12 kt gold-plated cap, medium and soft writing, ideal for left-handed people.
Its name comes from its 51st birthday.
Parker 51 owes much to the influence of Moholy-Nagy, a famous ‘Bauhaus’ artist who used Klee and Kandinsky. Defectors of the German school of applied arts were driven out of Germany by Hitler and settled in Chicago, where they influenced American aesthetics.
Parker 51 is launched in the USA in 1941 and became a symbol.
Six strengths helped forge the myth of the Parker 51: a high-speed ink dried instantly, the Quink ink, a shaped plastic, Lucite, which was probably not affected by ink corrosion, simplified pen to prevent evaporation of the ink on the tip of the pen.
