Twenty prints by Hans Bellmer, the well known surrealist/dadaïst, with the cycle “Een Vrouw” by Hugo Claus from “De Oostakkerse Gedichten”, and the original signed etching (HC) by Hans Bellmer. Issued in February 2001 on 35 copies.
A bond was formed between Hugo Claus and the erotic graphic artist throughout the life of Claus. In ‘Het Verdriet van België” he describes how his alter ego Louis Seynaeve discovers a series of etchings by Bellmer during the war in a mansion in Brussels and how he is completely confused by this pervert-sadistic work.
When the publisher of this luxury-edition got a hold of a series of original, signed etchings by Bellmer he thought it would be evident to make an edition in which these grand masters are combined. Claus agreed immediately.
A magnificent, deep blue cassette, title vignette in parchment sunken in the binding with gold imprint. Wild handmade paper Zerkall.
