Carlo Sdoya (1914 - 1996)
Was a South African artist who was born in Rome. A painter of still lifes, landscapes, seascapes and portraits. He worked with oils and charcoal and was popular for his work with palette knives.
He studied art in Rome from 1930 to 1937 and had his own studio in Johannesburg in 1951, the Da Vinci School of Fine Arts in Johannesburg. He studied art in the company of Durant Sihlali in 1955 and he was mentor of the artist Pieter Klaassen.
Countless works by the artist are sold and his work is very popular.
