Nice watercolour of 'the Hague Breitner' Willem de Zwart.
He got his nickname due to the fact that the topics he choose belonged to The Hague School but his style and use of colour reminded of Amsterdam Impressionists. His landscapes, figure paintings and still lifes were painted with a smooth, bold brush strokes. The paint was thickly applied, sometimes directly from the tube, with bright colours in abundant reds, yellows and blues giving his paintings an extraordinary vibrancy. Museums: among others, the Haags Gemeentemuseum and national Kröller-Müller museum in Otterlo.
Bottom left signed with his initials, which he did more often with his watercolours. Neat frame, some damage, with just upholstered mat.
The paper has somewhat soured, and has three white spots. These are photographed separately on the last photos.
Frame will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail. Pick up is possible naturally (near Roelofsarendveen).
