Anton Heyboer (1924-2005) was already a celebrated artist in the 60s and 70s. Already at that time his work was purchased by the MoMA in New York, shown at the Documenta in Kassel, and was honoured with major exhibitions at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
In 1975 he was even presented together with David Hockney and Lucian Freud in LACMA in Los Angeles as one of the most important European painters of the time. Forty years after its last major museum exhibition, the municipal museum of The Hague has held a major retrospective. The aim of the municipal museum was to bring the international quality of his oeuvre back into the limelight.
Anton Heyboer was loved by the general Dutch public for his special lifestyle and special art creations. Still today his works are housed in galleries, museums, private individuals and art dealers.
The artwork on offer comes from a special company collection.
