Alain was born and raised in Paris. At the age of 12, he attended classes in the Louvre workshops: this experience determined his artistic direction. At the age of 16, he entered the Graphic Arts School of Corvisart. After graduation he began painting and lived off of small odd jobs.
He began exhibiting at the Autumn Art Fair at the Grand Palais in Paris. Several years would go by before he would realise the importance of painting in his life and decide to make it his career. Around the age of 40, he leaves Paris and settles in Bretagne to finally devote himself to his passion.
Alain uses a knife to spread oil paint on canvas, paper or wood. To create his landscapes he uses building spatulas, which are wider and more rigid than traditional art knives.
He draws his inspiration from his travels (Italy, Greece, Algeria, Tunisia) and the places where he has lived (Paris, Brittany). He transforms his memories into uninhabited theatrical scenery. His works can be viewed as travelogues. With his mind full of images, it is in his studio that he creates light, ambiances and atmospheres.
