Francia - Primera mitad del siglo XIX

After the painting in 1808 by Nicolas PONCE CAMUS (1778-1839), history and portrait painter, exhibited at the Salon since 1796, listed in the inventory of the Galerie Historique de Versailles MV1721.
Engraving drawn by Massard (1812-1889) in very good condition considering his age, image dimensions 17 x 22 cm.

Napoleon meditates on the coffin of the Grand Frederic II of Prussia in the crypt of the Kirche garrison in Potsdam, Poland, thus expressing his deep respect.

The grave of Frederick II, whose name is clearly written in capital letters, is the main element of the scene, great care is taken to express the emotionally charged faces: Murat is the closest to the Emperor; further on are General Berthier, Duroc and Ségur.
