Oil on canvas by Octave Landuyt, born has Ghent in 1922. He is a painter, engraver, sculptor, and ceramist. Also creator of stage sets, jewellery and tapestries. Landuyt began with a fantastic and surrealist realism that evolved towards abstraction and post-expressionism, with a predilection for the fantastic and the tragic.
His paintings of characters, animals, plants and minerals fascinate by the osmosis between matter and anxiety.
He became a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium (1975). A monumental work is located at the Porte de Namur metro station in Brussels (1979). Exhibitions at the museums of Antwerp, Brussels, Kortrijk, Ghent, Ostend, Verviers, Chicago, New York, Cape Town, Pretoria and Sao Paulo.
