A beautiful, museum-worthy wooden bust of a man (Socrates, St. Paul or St. Peter). Masterly sculpted by talented and skilled hands.
It shows traces of a gilding faded over the years. The work is in good condition, solid, despite the ancient attack of woodworms. The hole below the statue, suggests that it was placed in a niche, which makes it more likely that it was a sacred image, of Saints Paul or Peter precisely.
