Rolf Rafflewski is a German painter, cartoonist, illustrator and lithographer born in Hanau on August 26th 1943.
Born with Polish ancestry, Rolf Rafflewski draws and paints since 1955. He trained as a graphic designer at Hanau Staatliche Zeichenakademie, then at Francfort School of Graphic Arts before creating his own workshop where he worked as a painter in advertising, decorator and poster-maker. In 1960-61 he travelled for the first time to Paris, and stayed a long term in Montmartre, before settling in 1963 in the French capital. He first lived at 50, quai de Jemmapes in Paris 10th, then moved to L'Haÿ-les-Roses. He began to do some lithographs in 1970 with publish Vision Nouvelle.

Painter and lithographer of landscapes, first influenced by tachism, his work focuses on Paris, the castles of the Loire valley, Normandy (garden Claude Monet in Giverny and Mont-Saint-Michel), Côte d’Azur (Nice and Toulon), Venice, New York City (following a first travel in 1975) then later Spain (Toledo, 1997), Rome, Japan and Hong-Kong. He also do advertising illustrations for the press as well as numerous murals in public and private places
