1ª mitad siglo XX - En muy buen estado, algo usado con algunos signos de desgaste

The Nagô are a population from west Africa who mainly lives in Benin. Their number was estimated between 50.000 and 60.000 in the 1980s. Most live in Kétou, Savé, Tchaourou, and Doumé, in the north of Abomey and in Porto-Novo, the capital, the place where they got closer to the Gouns.
Usually they have a high level of education and occupy a significant place within the public sphere.

Figurines serving for the cult of the Ibedji... that is, the cult of the twins among the Nago. With the help of these statuettes, mothers of deceased twins will maintain emotional ties with their child.
The Ibedji participate in the life of the shelter. These are dressed, fed, carried...

Ancient figurines with quite raw shapes. Some traces of desiccation (have a look at the picture).
