Meyer-Wiegand comes from an artistic
family: His father was a conductor and pianist, his
mother a concert singer. Already early he began
to paint in style at the Düsseldorf School of Painting.
Later he painted, inspired by the French
impressionists Degas and Vuillard, figures and
portraits. His oeuvre showed a great variety: (River)
landscapes, harbours, park scenes, folk festivals and
vibrant cityscapes, painted with a lost
ease. Meyer-Wiegand painted in Cologne and
Dusseldorf and undertook numerous
foreign travel. He lived in Holland, Belgium,
France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain
and the US, an extraordinary, realistic painter.
