Opals found from anywhere in the world are normally found to contain only 5% to 6% of water compared to other sites that contain 10% to 12% of water. The meaning of this is that the Brazilian Opal has a lower risk of cracking due to exposure to heat or sunlight. It has also been found that the Brazilian Opal is a little harder compared to other opals.
