Offered, a vintage Demetrio 70 table by Vico Magistretti with hardly any to no signs of wear, but the white has discoloured slightly over the years
Dimensions: L 70 x 70. H: 30
This was the first design made of plastic for Magistretti and moreover one of the first pieces of furniture in this (then) new material.
Around 1963, Ernesto Gismondi of Artemide had already noticed the plastic containers in photo laboratories and asked Magistretti to make something of them. The designer took such a bowl shape, turned it upside down and cut the sides so only legs were left. The legs of one table fit precisely into the notches in the top of another table. That way they stand firmly even when they are stacked into an étagère. The starting point, however, was that each table could also be used separately as a side table.
The Artemide group was founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi (chairman) and has its headquarters in Pregnana Milanese. It has more than 24 subsidiary and affiliated companies and a distribution network of 55 single-brand showrooms in the most important cities in the world. The Artemide products are distributed in 98 different countries. With 5 factories in Italy, France, Hungary and Canada, 2 glazes and a research structure, supported by prototyping laboratories and advanced testing laboratories, the group currently employs more than 750 people, including 60 doing research, as an important part of the group's success Technological research, dialogue with the great architects,
The Artemide collections nowadays represent a unique mix of values: the approach to human and durable light is combined with the know-how of design and material. It combines the latest technology with age-old knowledge: the perfect expression of durable design.
