Gerhard Skrobek is the big master potter of Goebel, his Hummels are world famous and much sought after by collectors worldwide. So is his early work, amongst others, this gorgeous sculpture which is much loved by collectors.
The figurine is made of very hard fired terracotta, turning it almost into porcelain by hardness.
It depicts a squatting nude young female, supporting her head with her left arm that rests on her knee. The female has a typical 1960s hairdo and her body is anatomically perfect.
Her left buttock has the handwritten initials of Skrobek ‘SKRO’ and below her right leg is the serial number ‘FN73’ and the blue logo of Goebel.
The piece is in excellent condition, 21 x 12 x 7 cm.
