Pottery "mingqi" featuring an equestrian model of a female polo player.
Tang dynasty (618-907).
Grey pottery coated with white slip and well preserved color pigments.
The rider is 32cm high and 42cm long, and comes with a plexiglas stand. However, it can be displayed in another way, with a hook hung on a wall (see picture just before TL)
The horse is modeled in motion at full gallop with four legs raised, the rider is wearing a long green robe and her hair is tied with two red ribbons. The hands are arranged as if to hold a polo stick.
Wonderful condition, no visible damage nor repair.
Important note : this male polo rider is one of a matching PAIR. The second one is also available (see last picture) and will be proposed in next auction.
This horse comes with a TL certificate from Ralf Kotalla, consistent with the Tang period, in 3 different points.
It will safely be sent by FedEx in a wooden crate or can be picked up/delivered if not too far from Belgium.
