In 1940 his first solo exhibition was held (Florence): the presentation of the exhibition catalogue was written by Eugenio Montale. He displayed his works in solo exhibitions in Paris, Nice, Milan, Venice, Rome, Cairo and São Paulo in Brazil. He was President of the Milan Triennial and was awarded the gold medal of the State Education of the Republic for cultural merits. He participated (especially between the 1940s and 50s) in many editions of the Venice Biennale and in the Rome Quadrennials. The “Pastorelli” or “Pastorali” with the “Venezie” are the master’s most prestigious themes. Signed on bottom centre: Brindisi; on the back on the canvas: “olio autentico”.
