A beautiful work of art by the Belgian painter Carel Lodewijk Dake Jr. (1886-1946). With frame. Signed in the lower right. The condition of the work is good. The frame has some traces of wear. The work can be viewed at Kunsthandel Martins in 2018 at 2nd Exloërmond (the Netherlands). The work of art comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Dake Jr., Carel Lodewijk was born on 4 April 1886 in Schaerbeek (Belgium). He was the son of C.L. Dake Sr. who became a professor in 1890 at the State Academy in Amsterdam. He was taught by his father and by, a.o., A.M. Gorter, H.M. Krabbé (Laren) and E Pieters. He worked and lived in Amsterdam until 1908 and afterwards in Laren, between 1908 and 1911. He has also worked on Terschelling and in Gelderland, San Francisco. He painted, made watercolours, drew and etched mainly landscapes. Also Oriental scenes, including the Borabudur. Taught, a.o., H. Lamberts. Work by him can be found in the Museum of Phildelphia and in the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Dake Jr. died in Batavia (Jakarta), Dutch Indies.
