Louis Jean Alfred Bonamici, born Luigi Bonamicile 13 January 1878 in Livorno (Italy) and died on 12 March 1966 in France, is a French painter of Italian origin.
He is the son of Jean Bonamici and Égérie Bertacchi. He was very early dedicated to painting.
His panels or oils on canvas represent seascapes, port and fishing scenes, creeks but also bouquets of flowers, country landscapes, more rarely village scenes, all this in a sun-drenched Provence, as shown in his tartan paintings in Martigues.
Louis Bonamici still uses the technique of knife painting as his contemporary Louis Pastour and sometimes watercolour. Some artistic critics see him as a distant student of Adolphe Monticelli.
The artist was very present in painting salons between 1907 and 1935 in Martigues, Cannes, Nice,Toulon, Paris or Marseille. He also painted in Italy, notably in Venice, Greece, North Africa. His journey to North America in 1923-1924 was immortalised by his views of California and he exhibited in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York during the interwar period.
His production ensures the painter a certain financial ease thanks to a network of renowned gallery owners who open the doors of fame to him wherever he exhibits: Moullot in Marseille, Armand Drouant or Georges Petit in Paris, John Levy in New York. He was appointed painter of the Navy in 1921.

In the 1930s, Louis Bonamici moved to Lavandou where he remained until his death.
