Working and one key for both boxes.
The NV Henri de Beaumont's Fabriek van IJzeren Meubelen was founded in 1910. It stemmed from the forge and trading company Henri de Beaumont, located in Maastricht since 1883.
The company's name was changed to Henri de Beaumont's Metaalindustrie NV by amendment of the Articles of Association in 1934. When, at the end of the 1960s, there is no suitable successor to the director, all attempts to merge fail and the company is also plagued by fire, the business is dissolved in 1972. Traditionally, the company manufactured iron furniture, special cots and mattresses in all kinds of variations. Afterwards, the assortment was extended with steel furniture for, among others, sanatoriums, hospitals, convents, schools and offices. The manufacture of money boxes made an important contribution for years. The extensive collection of price lists (Inv. numbers 153-166) is a good example of this. These price lists are also important for the development of models and design. The factory was located at the Meerssenerweg in Maastricht; after the Second World War, a second factory in Venray was in use during the years 1947-1950. The production was for the most part focused on the domestic market. A small part was intended for export. Especially with Belgium, a lot of business was done for which purpose even a separate company was established in that country. The archives of this company, namely Henri de Beaumont PVBA in Lanaken, 1955-1965, have been registered in this inventory. A reasonable part of the total company archive has been preserved, in any case to the extent that material is available of all parts. The accounting of the company itself is virtually missing from the financial administration; on the other hand, there is an important part of the De Beaumont family's accounts, the so-called secret accounts, so that the data is not lostafter all.
