Antique manuscript of Grand Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Alkhrashi.
Al-Khurshi became famous and his status was publicly and privately recognized; the Sheikh was widely aware of the diversity of culture, in particular the interpretation of the Quran and the jurisprudence of the doctrine of Imam Malik bin Anas. He therefore left an extensive Arabic and Islamic library.
This part of this manuscript contains 180 pages composed of 26 lines of black ink and natural red lines in oriental writing on very thick linen paper, some of these are stuck together but they are easily detached, there are a few stains but the text is good.
Size: 26 x 18 cm Bound in garnet-coloured leather, by its former owner.
The position of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar was introduced in the 17th century, during the Ottoman reign in Egypt. An Al-Azhar historian, Al-Jabarti, places the death of Sheikh Muhammad Al-Kharashi in 1690 and identifies him as the first Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. It was indeed from that time onwards that the Al-Azhar Mosque-University established a hierarchical organization to manage its growing activities. The organization of Al-Azhar had, until then, been left to the sultans and princes, but the increase in the number of students motivated this development.
