Decorative tribal object from the Philippines. Real boar skull, fastened on wood. It is a wild boar sacrificed by the Mombaki, Shaman of the Ifugao. These kind of objects are still hung in the house of the Shaman.
Period: last quarter of the 20th century.

The Ifugao are known for their past as headhunters. The two main reasons for the Ifugao for head hunting were: honour revenge and prestige. The practices of headhunting belongs to the past for a century. The traditions of the Ifugao are still maintained.
