Lost wax bronze bust, authentic piece, signed by Francesco Paolo Michetti (1851-1929) **
It represents a cheerful child with a rebel tuft, wearing a big hat and a handkerchief, knotted around his neck in the typical fashion of the farmers of Abruzzo. Please note: author's signature to the right shoulder.
Height: 26 cm, including the 4 cm pearly white marble base (which is missing a corner, see photo); weight: 3.3 kg
In excellent condition with dust sediments due to age; they can be easily washed away with water and soap.
The work at auction is one of the few sculptural works by ** F.P. Michetti, who was the greatest painter of Abruzzo, an eclectic artist (sculpture, photography) and animator of the cultural salon ‘Il Conventino’ in Francavilla al Mare, which was attended by G. D'Annunzio, M. Serao, F.P. Tosti, B. Cascella, E. Scarfoglio and C. Barbella, among others.
