Mainline History:
The locomotives of the series 44 are so-called "Kriegs lokomotiven", which meant that they were built in the 2nd World War from 1942 and were used for the German Reich. After the conquest of France, Germany decided to also start the production of these locomotives in France at the locomotive factory Société Francaise de Constructions Mécaniques in Denain. Starting from 1944 these locomotives were built in France. Of the series 44, 13 were stationed in France during WWII. After the second world war they stayed behind in France and they were classified among the SNCF as 150 X and got the numbers 150. X. 819, 838, 928, 929, 941, 942, 962, 1083, 1089, 1092, 1110, 1801 and 1803.

The production in France had a lot of unfinished locomotives at the end of the second World War. The production was continued and a total of 226 pieces of 150 X Series were built for the SNCF. They were given the operating numbers 150. X. 1 - 150. X. 226. The locomotives were used for heavy freight transport (coal, iron ore, steel). In the North of France the locomotives were stationed in Lens, Valenciennes and Hirson. In the East of France they were stationed in Thionville, Metz-Frescaty, Sarreguemines, Audun-le-Roman, Conflans-Jarny and Lumes. After the electrification of several important routes, they partly were taken out of service. In 1955 a total of 58 locomotives were sold to Turkey. From 1955 to 1959 the locomotives in North France were taken aside. The locomotives in eastern France were taken aside in the period 1957-1965.
