Vertical figurative form of a human body with a suggestive hole in the centre. The texture shows the hardness and at the same time the solidity of the figure. Made of anthracite-coloured marble.
Hand signed with monogram.
Condition: Very good, with some natural patina due to placement in the garden/outside air, but that's easy to remove. See the photos.
* Anjum Ayaz is a Pakistani sculptor, theatre director, painter, and actor. His work consists of stones and mixed materials for specific large sculptures for public places, beaches, and gardens. In his own country he often encountered disapproval from Orthodox Muslims, who regard his images as (too) erotic.
"Whatever there is, or there is to be – it is there to see, to touch, to taste, to smell, to hear, to feel, to imagine or to see visions about. Whatever there is or there is to be – the crux is the form – which seeks permanence in its inherent movement, changing shapes, assuming dimensions in the transient process"
The images from this series titled 'Synergy in Form' have been exhibited in major world cities such as Tokyo, Dubai, Karachi and Sydney at the Pakistani embassy in The Hague on the occasion of the 60 year anniversary of Pakistan's Independence in 2007.
