This print is the right-hand half of Castiglione's well-known print depicting the Raising of Lazarus.
Jesus, with his right arm raised, is bringing Lazarus (in the missing left-hand portion) to life, with a group of figures watching.
Despite the missing section, this is a dramatic design, and typical of Castiglione's etching skills and distinctive technique; particularly his use of light and shade.
Inscription: 'GB CASTILIONE GENOVESE _ P'
On laid paper,
Condition: Fair impression, in poor condition. The left-hand half of the print has been torn off and is missing. Some of the bottom edge, beneath the design itself, is cut-off. Foxing and paper discoloration. Edges strengthened with strips on reverse. (see photos).
