Albumen photograph, hand-painted with watercolour, attributed to the studio of Felice Beato in Yokohama (2nd half 19th c.). It comes from the Antonio Ferri (*) collection evaluated by Finarte in Milan for the auction of November 2017 (please see catalogue page and detail of description).
The cardboard was taken from a folding album - the same of photographs presented by Finarte - and it shows two photographs: women in traditional costume collecting tea leaves, and a bridge on the river in Yokoama on the back Words in pencil.
(*) Antonio Ferri is a scholar and collector of archaeological photography. Expert connoisseur of the activity of the Beato brothers - Among his publications ‘Il fotografo dei Faraoni - Antonio Beato in Egitto 1860-1905’.
