Two decorative necklaces/collars of the Tolai from Papua New Guinea.
This so called “Middi” is made of Nassa shells by the Tolai tribe on the Gazelle peninsula, New Britain.
The Tolai regarded the shells as very costly and they also used them as coins. Warriors wore the Middi as amulets.
