A beautiful light green glazed old bowl, concerns an archaeological find, excavated in the garden of an old whaler's house located on the Herenstraat in Den Hoorn on Texel.
We go back to the beginning of the 18th century. Klaas Jacobsz Daalder sailed on long voyages at sea from the age of 10, bought this cottage in 1729 and lived there with his wife and children. Klaas climbed up from young sailor to commander on whaling. Thanks to the good catches on the whaling, he, in addition to the later owners of this cottage, left his traces in the form of a beautiful interior. For sixty years, this cottage was inhabited by whaling sailors. After that, many other people lived there and still this particular national monument is inhabited, the last 50 years as a weekend and holiday home.
