Trilobites Order Lichida, Family Odontopleuridae
This plate displays a rarely seen example of a trilobite known as Selenopeltis found in the Ordovician deposits off Boutschrafin, Morocco. This one is different in large measure due to the fact that it is a juvenile example,less than 25% the size of an adult.
The specimen shows an amazing amount of detail and the natural, orange coloration is due to the oxidization of iron pyrite.
