Original poster in excellent condition. Printed by the Fronte Monarchico Giovanile U.M.I. ( Unione Monarchica Italiana ) Gino Boccasile (1901-1952) painted the poster “Ritorneremo” for this occasion, featuring the Amba Alagi mountain in the background. Amedeo, Duke of Aosta (Turin, October 21, 1898 – Nairobi, March 3, 1942) occupied the Amba Alagi with 7,000 men from April 17 to May 17, 1941. The Italian troops were under siege by the forces of General Cunningham (39,000 men). The Italian soldiers, inferior in both number and means, proved of great value but had to surrender to the British as they ran out of ammunition, water and wood. In sign of admiration, the British granted the honours of war to the survivors, allowing the officers to keep their service pistols. Please look at the photos for a better impression of your purchase.
