Offered are 'Air Force Distinguished Service Medal' in perfect condition including ribbon bar and presentation box.
The Air Force Distinguished Service Medal was created by the U.S. Congress on 6 July, 1960. The medal was intended as a new award of the United States Air Force to replace the policy of awarding the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Air Force personnel.
The Air Force Distinguished Service Medal is awarded to every member of the U.S. Air Force who has distinguished himself by extremely meritorious services to the U.S. government in a major duty of responsibility. The interpretation of the expression "major responsibility" means that this medal is generally granted only to officers who have at least the rank of Major General.
Two notable exceptions are astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Colonel David Scott to whom this award was awarded.
A beautiful specimen and a fantastic addition to every collection.
