In 1953 the sign π (pi) was added above the Pierce brand. In 1956, the company innovated once more with an alarm wristwatch, unique in that it could chime or vibrate. This is the Duofon model. The vibrating alarm allows the wearer to be notified with alerting those around him that he has placed a limit on his time or that he has something else to do. The movement is of an ultra-modern design for the period. The technical innovations of the Pierce Duo-fon are protected by Swiss and foreign patents.
