Limited edition Glenfiddich Caoran Reserve
In the 30s and 40s of the 20th century, when coal was scarce, peat was increasingly used in Speyside to malt the barley.
At Glenfiddich, a soft, smoky malt with an elegant peat note was created.
A few years ago, Glenfiddich's Malt Master David Stewart discovered barrels from the 1930s in the warehouses with just this peat note.
It was decided to revive this malt and called it "Caoran Reserve".
The word "Caoran" comes from the Gaelic and means something like “peat ember”.
