A male marionette puppet from Burma with polychrome painted wood. A lot of attention went into the clothes: the dance costume is made of painted buffalo leather and hemmed with a cord. The costume is finished with small metal plates, beads of glass .The puppet probably depicts Rama, a hero and son of a god. The upper garment below the dance costume is made of dark red silk. The puppet has a length of 40 cm.
The puppet was imported in the '70s but probably dates back to the '40s or 50s.
This handmade puppet of an elephant is a special item.
Made in Thailand of wood and beautifully decorated by hand.
The elephant is a special animal in Thailand, it is considered a sacred animal and is symbolic of intelligence and grace.
The puppet can hang and stand alone and is of course also useful as a puppet.
The trunk, legs and ears have hinges.
The puppet has, of course, signs of use, but this only increases the charm.
Decorative embroidered panel included.
