Rare okimono in ivory depicting a falconer. The keen eye is fixed on the quarry. Captured in the act of lifting the hood of the falcon to launch it after its prey.
Sculpted with great skill from a single piece of ivory.
In very good condition overall, showing the natural veining of the ivory and a small repair in one finger, as highlighted in the photos in red

Japanese artefact from the Meiji era (circa 1890-1910).
The item was produced prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations on ivory trade.
