Pierre Corneille and Le Cid need no further introduction for most French people. Wikipedia:
Le Cid is a five-act French tragicomedy written by Pierre Corneille, first performed in December 1636 at the Théâtre du Marais in Paris and published the same year. It is based on Guillén de Castro's play Las Mocedades del Cid. Castro's play in turn is based on the legend of El Cid.
Today, Le Cid is widely regarded as Corneille's finest work, and is considered one of the greatest plays of the seventeenth century.
This book was publish by illustrator Maurice L'Hoir in an edition of only 35 copies. Published for bibliophiles, collectors of books.

Very special book.
The downsides are: The slipcase, which is torn at top and bottom.
The spine has some wear. And there was a sticker on page 2, which a previous owner has tried to remove. A must-have book for every collector. Please study the photos well.
