After Jean de Bologna dit Giambologna (Douai, northern France nowadays, 1529 - Florence, 1608), this bronze sculpture with a brown patina on a round base cut with doucine in Griotte marble.
The artist uses the technique of cast iron with lost wax to represent this figure in flight, leaning on the tip of the left foot, a real challenge to the laws of balance in sculpture. The left foot outstretched answers to the raised right arm with the index finger pointing skywards; the right leg thrown backwards answers to the bent left arm. The god, messenger of Jupiter carries the winged petasus, the caduceus and rests on the head of the wind god Aeolus. The pattern was used as a fountain, the water gushing out from under the god's left foot adding to the impression of weightlessness.
Dimensions: 57 cm in height on a base of approx.16 cm in diameter.
