Beautiful convex enamel advertising sign of Grimbergen 'the beer of the phoenix' from the 1990s. Grimbergen is one of the oldest beers in Belgium, which is still brewed today. Since 1128, the beer has been brewed in the Abbey of Grimbergen. The phoenix became the symbol of the abbey in 1629, as a sign of rebirth. The abbey was destroyed 3x during wars. The Latin spell 'ardet nec consumitur', which is written at the bottom, means 'burned but not destroyed'.
It has signs of wear top left (see photos).
