“Nestlé’s Milk” advertising poster by Nestlé UK, likely from the 1970s.
Nestlé (OTC: NSRGY) began as a condensed milk company in Cham, Switzerland, in 1866. At the beginning of the 20th century, the company merged with the Anglo-Swiss Milk Company, making its first entry into the United States market. The company grew significantly during the two World Wars: its coffee and condensed milk were a staple food for the U.S. military serving in Europe during World War II. In the postwar, Nestlé began an aggressive expansion strategy, making many corporate acquisitions and diversifying its product portfolio. Today, it’s the largest multinational food and drink processing conglomerate corporation.
