The sign is in original, unretouched condition.
In 1992, PTT launched system "Kermit". A system where subscribers could have contact with each other by calling. However, this did not yet resemble the mobile phones we know today and certainly not the smartphones.
The Kermit, later Greenhopper due to violation of property rights from the Muppets.
This sign -Greenpoint- indicates a base station. Sign found a lot at railway restaurants, gas stations,
post offices, parking lots, restaurants. So the Kermit used the Greenpoints.
5000 stations/Greenpoints and in 1996 approximately 60,000 connected people at the peak.
1998 still 20,000 people. 1999 off the market. Rise of cellphones.
Special sign, good story. Nice meaning in the future.
Will be well packed, and sent by registered mail with TT code.
