Lent cloth Jacques Chery
This Lent cloth comes from the Dominican monastery in Zwolle. A Lent cloth was hung in front of the altar during Lent. Thus, in the austere time of fasting, people were not distracted by the splendour of the altar.
This is the third fasting cloth that the German development organisation Misereor had made. This is the original size, intended for churches and parishes. In nine fragments on three levels, Chéry explains how his compatriots experience a number of stories from the Bible.
The cloth is completely intact. The top and bottom have a ‘tunnel’ through which a stick can pass to hang the cloth.
