An Art Deco bronze - patinated - sculpture of the famous Irénée Félix René Rochard (16-1- 1906 / 29-3-1984), well-known for his animal sculptures, especially for his birds.
He has frequently exhibited at the "Sociéte Nationale des Beaux-Arts" Paris, "l'Academie des Beaux-Arts" and won many prizes, gold medals, silver and the prestigious "Édouard-Marcel Sandoz" prize for animal sculptures.
This sculpture represents a bird (Troglodytes troglodytes - Wren) sitting on a flowering branch and mounted on a black veined marble base.
The bird is gilded and the branch has a green patina with a Bordeaux red flower.
The bronze is created in the '30s, is in excellent condition - except for a very tiny mouse bite on a corner of the marble-, is signed 'I. Rochard' on the base of the flower branch and it also has a stamp 'Bronze' on the back, bottom of the branch.
